Threat monitoring by human analysts
Businesses supported
Watched around the clock, followed up by our team
Our managed plans include 24/7 threat monitoring by our security partner’s operations centre, staffed by human analysts. When they flag something, our team follows up: we lock the account or isolate the laptop from the network where needed, then tell you what we found.
Some problems need someone in the room. For critical issues a technician comes to you the same day, from Coomera to Coolangatta.

Think something is wrong? Here is what happens
Ring us first, and don’t delete the suspicious email: it helps us work out what happened.
You call, we triage
A suspected breach is critical. In business hours we typically respond within 1 hour, and after-hours emergency support is available.
We stop it spreading
Passwords are reset, sessions signed out and devices isolated from our end, and for critical issues someone can be at your door the same day.
We find the way in
Sign-in history and mailbox rules often show it, such as a rule forwarding every “deposit” email to an outsider.
We get you working again
Machines are cleaned or rebuilt and files restored from backup before staff log back in.
We help you report it
A written summary for your records and insurer, help working out whether it is a notifiable data breach, and the gap that let them in fixed.
Where the risk sits for Gold Coast businesses
Our Gold Coast clients usually have 5 to 100 staff and nobody whose job is security. ASD’s Annual Cyber Threat Report 2024-25 puts the average self-reported cost per cybercrime report for a small business at $56,600.
Real estate and property
Deposits and settlement details travel by email, so a hijacked agent mailbox is valuable. We secure sign-ins on phones used at open homes. See real estate IT support.
Tourism and hospitality
Venues and tour operators run on shared reception computers and casual rosters. Each person gets their own login.
Construction and trades
Tablets in utes and progress claims by email make fake bank detail changes a real risk, so every site gets the same protection.
Health clinics
All health service providers are covered by the Privacy Act and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, whatever their turnover. See healthcare IT support.

Cyber security on the Gold Coast: common questions
Do you provide onsite cyber security support on the Gold Coast?
Yes. Our Australian-based team covers Coomera, Southport, Surfers Paradise, Robina, Burleigh Heads and everywhere down to Coolangatta. Most fixes happen remotely, and when an incident is live or systems are down, a technician can be with you the same day.
Who watches for threats outside business hours?
On our managed plans, our security partner’s operations centre, staffed by human analysts, monitors devices and sign-ins 24/7, and our team follows up. Our helpdesk runs 8am to 5pm AEST on weekdays (excluding Queensland public holidays), with after-hours emergency support available.
How much does cyber security cost for a Gold Coast small business?
It depends on your staff, devices and current setup. Core IT Security is $125 to $155 per user per month, with support billed as you use it. Fully Managed IT, which adds unlimited support in business hours, is $220 to $295 per user per month. Both are month to month, with no lock-in.
Our staff change with the seasons. How do we keep accounts secure?
Give every person their own login instead of a shared front desk account. We set up and close accounts as staff come and go, and a business password manager keeps booking portal logins off sticky notes.
How do we stop fake invoices and changed bank details?
Several controls together reduce the risk: multi-factor authentication, SPF, DKIM and DMARC on your domain, alerts on odd sign-ins and forwarding rules, and confirming any bank detail change by phone on a number you already have. Try our free email security check.
Does my Gold Coast business need SMB1001 or the Essential Eight?
Usually not by law, but larger clients and tenders often ask about them, and in our experience most cyber insurance questionnaires still ask Essential Eight style questions. ASD’s newer framework, the ASD Essentials, is superseding the Essential Eight, and both apply during the transition. SMB1001 is an Australian cyber security standard, certified through CyberCert at Bronze, Silver or Gold. We take businesses through SMB1001 certification, and run Essential Eight maturity assessments where you still have to report against it.
