Legal IT Carries a Higher Standard

Law firms and conveyancers handle some of the most confidential information in any industry. Property transactions, financial settlements, family matters, criminal records, commercial disputes, and privileged legal communications. A data breach or security incident does not just affect your firm. It affects your clients, your professional standing, and your obligations under the law.

At the same time, your firm depends on reliable access to practice management software, court filing systems, e-conveyancing platforms, trust accounting, and secure document management every single day. Downtime during a settlement, a filing deadline, or a court matter is not an inconvenience. It is a professional failure with real consequences.

Most IT providers do not understand the software legal practices depend on, the trust accounting rules you must comply with, or the reality that client confidentiality is not just best practice but a legal and ethical obligation. We work with legal practices regularly, and we build IT environments that reflect the standard your profession requires.

We support law firms and conveyancing practices across South East Queensland. From sole practitioners to multi-partner firms, we understand the software, the compliance landscape, and the security your practice needs.

Legal Practices We Support

We work with legal practices of all types and sizes across South East Queensland. Whether you are a sole practitioner, a boutique firm, or a growing multi-office practice, we build IT support around how your firm operates.

Smokeball

Cloud-based practice management, automatic time tracking, document automation, and billing

IT Services for Law Firms & Conveyancers

Managed IT Support

Remote and onsite helpdesk support built around how legal practices operate. We resolve IT issues quickly so your team can focus on client work, not troubleshooting technology. Priority support during critical deadlines, settlements, and court matters.

Cyber Security & Client Data Protection

Endpoint protection, EDR, email security, dark web monitoring, and phishing prevention. Your firm holds privileged communications, financial records, and personal client data. We build layered security that meets your ethical and legal obligations to protect it.

Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace

Email setup, migration, security hardening, MFA enforcement, and ongoing management. We lock down your email against phishing, spoofing, and business email compromise. Trust account fraud through email is one of the biggest threats to legal practices.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

Daily backups of your client files, practice management data, trust accounting records, and cloud environment. We monitor backups for failures and test recovery regularly. If ransomware hits or your systems are compromised during a settlement, we get you back up and running.

Trust Account Security

Your trust account is one of the highest-value targets in your firm. We implement security controls specifically designed to protect trust account access: MFA on all accounts, email fraud prevention, restricted access policies, and monitoring for suspicious activity.

Compliance & Governance

Essential Eight alignment, SMB1001 certification, Privacy Act compliance, and cyber insurance readiness. We help your firm meet the security standards that law societies, regulators, insurers, and your clients expect.

Secure Remote Access

Lawyers and conveyancers often work from home, from court, or between offices. We set up secure VPN and remote access so your team can reach client files, LEAP, Smokeball, and PEXA from anywhere without compromising security or client confidentiality.

New Office Setup & Relocations

Opening a new office or moving to a new location? We handle the full IT build: network, hardware, software, phones, security, and data migration. Consistent IT and security across all your offices from day one.

Legal Compliance & Client Data Security

Law firms and conveyancers are bound by some of the strictest confidentiality and data protection obligations in any profession. Your law society, your insurers, your clients, and increasingly the regulators expect you to take IT security seriously. We help your firm meet these requirements.

Law society professional obligations including duties of confidentiality, secure storage of client information, and trust account management
Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) governing how personal information is collected, stored, used, and disclosed
Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme requiring you to report eligible data breaches to the OAIC and affected individuals
AML/CTF obligations (Tranche 2) new anti-money laundering requirements for law firms commencing from 1 July 2026 under AUSTRAC
Essential Eight alignment for baseline cyber security as recommended by the ACSC
SMB1001 certification to formally demonstrate your firm’s cyber security posture to clients, insurers, and law societies
Cyber insurance requirements including MFA, EDR, patching, tested backups, email security, and incident response planning
Legal professional privilege ensuring IT systems and access controls protect the integrity of privileged communications

Trust account fraud is one of the biggest cyber threats to law firms and conveyancers in Australia. Attackers use business email compromise (BEC) to impersonate clients, real estate agents, or other solicitors, sending fraudulent payment instructions that redirect settlement funds into criminal accounts. A single successful attack can result in hundreds of thousands of dollars lost, professional conduct investigations, and insurance claims. Email security and trust account access controls are not optional in legal practice.

Safe AI Adoption for Law Firms

AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini are changing how legal professionals work. Staff are using them to draft correspondence, summarise documents, research case law, prepare submissions, and review contracts. The productivity benefits are real, but the risks to client confidentiality are serious.

If a solicitor or paralegal pastes client instructions, privileged communications, or confidential case details into a public AI tool, that information may be stored, used to train models, or exposed in ways that breach legal professional privilege and your obligations under the Privacy Act. Several law societies have already issued guidance warning firms about this exact risk.

We help law firms adopt AI safely and productively:

AI usage policy development tailored to your firm, covering approved tools, data restrictions, and review requirements for AI-generated content
Microsoft Copilot configuration within your Microsoft 365 tenant so your team uses AI tools that keep data inside your firm’s secure environment
Google Gemini setup within Google Workspace with enterprise data protection controls enabled
Access controls and data boundaries to prevent privileged or confidential client information from being sent to unapproved AI services
Staff guidance and training so your team understands what they can and cannot do with AI tools, with practical examples relevant to legal workflows
Ongoing review as AI tools and law society guidance evolve, keeping your firm’s policies current and your clients’ data protected

AI is becoming part of how legal work gets done. The question is whether your team is using it safely. We help you capture the productivity gains without putting client confidentiality at risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you support LEAP and Smokeball?

Yes. We support both LEAP and Smokeball, including installation, configuration, updates, integration with InfoTrack and other platforms, document management, and troubleshooting. We also support Clio, Practice Evolve, Actionstep, and other legal practice management systems.

Can you help protect our trust account from fraud?

Yes, and this is one of the most critical things we do for legal practices. We implement MFA on all accounts with access to trust funds, configure email security to prevent spoofing and business email compromise, set up restricted access policies, and monitor for suspicious activity. Trust account security is built into how we manage legal firm IT, not treated as an afterthought.

We use PEXA for electronic settlements. Can you support that?

Yes. We support PEXA access and security configuration, including ensuring that only authorised users can access your PEXA workspace, MFA is enforced, and your signing devices are properly managed. We also support InfoTrack, triSearch, and other e-conveyancing platforms.

Can you help with the new AML/CTF obligations?

We can help from an IT perspective. The new Tranche 2 AML/CTF regulations require law firms to enrol with AUSTRAC and implement compliance processes from 1 July 2026. While the legal compliance framework is your responsibility, we ensure your practice management systems, identity verification tools, and IT infrastructure support the data capture and record-keeping requirements.

Our team is using AI tools. Should we be concerned?

If it is unmanaged, yes. The risk is when staff paste client instructions, privileged communications, or confidential details into public AI tools without understanding where that data goes. We help you develop an AI usage policy, configure enterprise AI tools like Microsoft Copilot within your secure environment, and train your team on safe usage so you get the productivity benefits without the confidentiality risk.

Our lawyers work remotely and from court. Can you secure that?

Yes. We configure secure VPN and remote access so your team can reach LEAP, Smokeball, client files, and PEXA from home, from court, or between offices. All remote access is secured with MFA, endpoint protection, and encryption. Your team gets the flexibility they need without compromising client data.

Can you help us get cyber insurance?

Yes. The controls we implement as standard, including MFA, endpoint protection, EDR, patching, tested backups, and email security, are exactly what cyber insurers require. We provide the documentation and evidence your insurer or law society needs.

What does this cost?

We provide a fixed monthly price based on the size and complexity of your firm. The initial consultation and assessment is free. For firms on our managed IT plans, security, monitoring, and compliance support are built into the service. No hidden fees, no surprise invoices.
